Season faq's
Can my player request to play up or play down a division?
Yes. Requests to play in a higher or lower age division must be approved by the Player Agent and the affected Team Managers.
Play-Up Requests
- Players must attend evaluations for both their age-appropriate division and the division they wish to join.
- Evaluation results will be considered as part of the approval process.
- Players may not participate in two different age divisions during overlapping Spring Recreational and Select seasons. For example, a player who plays up during the Spring recreational season is not eligible to play on a Select team in the lower division during that same season.
Play-Down Requests
- Requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and require approval from the Player Agent and Team Managers.
To request a play-up or play-down, email alpinesoftballplayersagent@gmail.com before teams are drafted.
What does my registration fee include?
Registration fees vary by season, but we work hard to keep softball affordable for all families. Registration typically includes:
- Jersey, socks, and belt
- Umpire fees
- Field preparation and maintenance
- Skills clinics and player development opportunities
- USA Softball registration and insurance
Spring season registration also includes:
- Opening Day festivities
- Team and individual photos
- End-of-season awards
Note: 6U registration fees are lower because games do not require umpires and use fewer league resources.
Need-based scholarships may be available. Please contact the Player Agent at alpinesoftballplayersagent@gmail.com for more information.
What equipment does my player need?
Registration includes a game jersey and uniform socks. Teams will coordinate uniform pant colors before the season begins.
Players should have:
- Softball cleats (soccer cleats are permitted for 6U only)
- Softball glove
- Uniform pants (confirm your teams color with your team manager)
- Softball helmet with face guard (examples)
- Fielding face mask (examples)
- ASA/USA Softball-approved bat (examples)
- Sliding shorts (optional for 6U and 8U) (examples)
Cleat Requirements
- 12U and younger: Molded cleats only
- 14U: Metal cleats permitted
Uniform jerseys must be tucked in and worn at all games.
Does AGSA offer clinics and training opportunities?
Yes. AGSA partners with local professional coaches to offer skills clinics, pitching and catching instruction, and other training opportunities throughout the year at Otto Field. Clinic information will be shared with league families and posted on our Clinics page as opportunities become available.
How can I volunteer and support AGSA?
AGSA is a 100% volunteer-run organization, and family involvement is essential to a successful season.
There are many ways to help, including:
- Working in the snack bar
- Operating the scoreboard
- Assisting with field cleanup
- Serving on the Board of Directors
- Helping with league events and committees
Every family is expected to volunteer in some capacity during the season.
Snack Bar Requirement: Each family is required to complete at least one snack bar shift. If a shift is not selected, one may be assigned. Training and instructions are provided for all volunteers.
Visit our Volunteer page to learn more about ways to get involved.
